classy whitecaps fc | locals showcased in w-league season finale
Whitecaps FC women completed their home schedule Saturday afternoon on the road if you will at Victoria's, Royal Athletic Park. The ladies finished their second ever undefeated season (6W.0L.4D) with a 1:1 draw vs. Seattle Sounders to the delight of 1,049 fans in attendance.
The Whitecaps organization engaged the locals by adding Victoria's Abigail Raymer to their roster for her first ever start in W-League competition. She joined Crofton native, Emily Zurrer in the starting line-up and both did not disappoint.
Raymer figured in the offensive attack early and often. Zurrer often made runs from her central defender position into the attack and electrified the crowd when she connected on a corner to score the tying goal in the second half.
Other familiar locals working with the Whitecaps on their journey to Victoria were Raegyn Hall (keeper coach); and Graham Tooke (marketing & communications intern).
Hall developed his coaching techniques with Island Keeper Clinics and Simon Fraser University. Tooke, a Camosun College student, gained extensive experience with Victoria United and Highlanders FC before landing with MLS bound Whitecaps as an intern.
Incider met many in the Whitecaps family and photographed the locals in action, an entertainment extravaganza Whitecaps style. Let's do this again!
